Herbie Makes a Guest Appearance!

Special Guest Appearance:

By popular demand, Herbie will be making a special guest appearance today during the first part of the Adoption Event hosted by Lucky Dog Animal Rescue this afternoon on Capitol Hill from Noon to 12:30 p.m. at Chateaux Animaux, 5248 Sth Street, S.E. - www.luckydoganimalrescue.org (adoption event itself runs until 2:00 p.m. - come meet all of the other Lucky Dogs available for adoption!).

Herbie's Health:

Herbie is looking forward to meeting his public but Foster Mom wants everyone to know he isn't quite ready for adoption - just yet. Foster Mom has been taking him to the local Vet who has put Herbie on Rimadyl because his previous wounds may be causing some deep, chronic inflammation - causing him significant pain. The Vet has not ruled out possible infection in the affected joints. Foster Mom says the plan is to wait another week to see how Herbie does on the Rimadyl alone before doing further tests to check on infection in his leg. Even the Vet is impressed with with Herbie's strong happy spirit despite what he has endured~

Interested in Adopting Herbie?

To the wonderful people who have expressed an interest in Healing Herbie and perhaps making him your own - Herbie(via Foster Mom) is most grateful for your interest and support!

Can you please submit an Adoption Application (www.luckydoganimalrescue.org) so we can find out more about your family? Due to the great number of applications already received for Herbie, back-up applications will be taken in the order received.

But wait - Foster Mom encourages you to look at the Lucky Dog website and check out the Photos and the Stories of over 150 other Lucky Dogs also looking looking for their forever homes. Their stories may not have gotten the press that Herbie's has but each of them tells a similar tale - abandoned by their owners when they had to move to a new place that would not take dogs or sent to a shelter when times got hard. Each of them misses being part of a family and they are all looking for a wonderful adoptive home just like Herbie!

So please - check out Herbie's canine colleagues at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org - and submit an application for a dog or dogs that look like they might just be the right fit for you!

And don't forget to donate what you can to help Herbie Heal! All donations will go to Herbie's medical care.

A Special Shout Out:

Foster Mom and everyone at Lucky Dog (all volunteers! want to join us?) is so appreciative of the attention Herbie has received from other bloggers and in the news.

And even though this story is about Herbie and his journey - the best part is that it is bringing awareness of all the other Herbies out there - and the dedicated rescue groups that volunteer to find each abandoned dog a new forever home.

Each of you is truly a lifesaver!

Thank you for helping to Heal Herbie.
